Practice the Mountain Pose to energize and strengthen both your mind and body. When done properly, this yoga position targets all your muscle groups. It tones your core, thighs and butt muscles, and stretches your knees and ankles. It increases blood flow to the brain and improves your body’s overall blood circulation. It’s a basic standing yoga pose that helps you practice mindfulness. This helps calm your mind and relax your entire body.

How to Do the Mountain Pose
- Stand up straight with your feet a few inches apart. Feel your feet rooted firmly on the ground.
- Place your arms on your side. Turn your hands so your palms face upward. You can also place your hands together like in a praying position.
- Engage your knee muscles and your thighs. Relax your shoulders down and broaden your collar bones.
- Hold this pose anywhere from 5 to 10 breaths or for as long as you want.
Tip: You can practice the Mountain Pose with your back against the wall. It will help you get the right alignment for your spine when you do this yoga pose.
