Looking for a powerful weight loss diet that can work for you? Read this inspiring story and learn how the Engine 2 Diet can help you lose excess weight!
Jayne Strelecki has tried so many diets since she was a teenager. At 61 years old and weighing 285 lbs., she was on the verge of giving up. It didn’t help that she suffered from all sorts of conditions like prediabetes, arthritis, and asthma. However, after trying The Engine 2 Seven Day Rescue Diet, she finally achieved real weight loss success. Her condition even improved, reversing her prediabetes and allowing her to stop taking meds.
Like most people, Jayne was doubtful at first. After so many failed weight loss attempts, who wouldn’t be? But she still had hope it would get better. When her friend told her about an “amazing new way to eat,” she listened and tried it herself.
Jayne is just one out of many who have lost weight on the Engine 2 Diet. Here’s why this plant-based diet is so effective.
What is the Engine 2 Diet?
In a nutshell, the Engine 2 Diet is all about eating plant-based food, mainly unprocessed and minimally processed plant foods. This means eating lots of veggies, leafy greens, fruits, and whole grains. But unlike other diets that strictly involve macros tracking or portion control, the Engine 2 Diet doesn’t require any of that. It allows you to eat plenty of plant-based meals. The idea is to eat enough to keep you from feeling hungry in-between meals.
Take Note: Though you’re not required to limit food portions or track macros, it’s still best to stay away from calorie-dense foods. To reap it’s full weight loss benefits, make it a habit to eat greens in every meal. Make sure to consume 100% whole grain foods. Lastly, avoid fatty oils and limit sweet options like maple syrup, dried fruits and sweet beverages. Great Fact: The Engine 2 Diet was developed by former triathlete and health activist Rip Esselstyn. He was inspired by his father, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, who did research on using plant-based foods to cure heart disease.
How Plant-Based Diets Support Weight Loss
Jayne’s amazing weight loss is actually not new to experts. Studies show switching to plant-based diets supports weight loss and even cures obesity. According to Dr. Neal Barnard, professor at George Washington University, people on plant-based diets lose weight almost instantly without limiting their portions or carbs.
It may sound too good to be true. However, if you think about how much calories processed foods have, you’d understand. In fact, one pound of plant-based food only has half the calories compared to processed food. Moreover, the Engine 2 Diet adds a lot of fiber into your body. This helps keep you feel full, aids digestion and boosts metabolism for weight loss. Finally, plant-based foods have more antioxidants compared to meat and dairy. Antioxidants boost fat burning and helps prevent excess calorie absorption.
Reversing Type 2 Diabetes
Apart from dramatic weight loss, people with diabetes also experience significant health improvements on this diet. As mentioned earlier, Jayne’s prediabetes eventually got better after going on a plant-based diet.
According to Yale’s recent study, here’s why losing weight helps improve diabetes: Diabetes is not caused by excess carbs as previously thought. It’s caused by fat buildup in muscle and liver cells. When this happens, cells can’t absorb the sugar. It stays in the bloodstream, increasing your blood sugar and triggering fat absorption.
Switching to a plant-based diet helps diabetes patients lose excess fat, which stabilizes blood sugar levels. In a recent experiment, 85% of people with diabetes were able to stop taking diabetes meds in just 26 days of eating a plant-based diet.
Staying on the Engine 2 Diet
Since it’s a plant-based diet, most people think they can’t sustain it. However, Jayne believes anybody can do the Engine diet for 7 days.
She started with a diet plan for just 7 days. Before she knew it, she was doing it for 2 weeks. She had more energy and felt like a new person. A month went by and she still kept eating healthy.
When asked how she did it, she simply said feeling good about herself made her NOT want to go back. Who wants to have diabetes and all sorts of health problems, right? And today, Jayne’s better than ever.
Now that’s a great weight loss story! Just when you thought you’ve tried everything, Jayne’s story shows it’s never too late to make a healthy change.
